Project Spring Fling
digital humanities for assessment @ auraria library

5. Where do we go?
My assessment project answered the questions I asked, met the goal that I set, and provided some unexpected insight into the workings of our students’ minds. In short, it did everything I needed and more, despite some challenges in the process. Our department will use this knowledge as we begin our work on the tutorial project this summer, hopefully guiding us to design quality items that will benefit our current and incoming students.

Will the Digital Humanities have a place in further assessment at Auraria Library? I hope so. Computing tools and methods provide a unique view into the data we collect and offer ways for us to visualize and analyze that data. Both topic modeling and text analysis could prove useful in analyzing student work samples, evaluating chat questions, and finding patterns across lesson plans and curricula.
Project Spring Fling reflects only one way that DH can contribute to the world of librarianship and, more specifically, to outreach and instruction.
Here’s to discovering more.
